In 2021, Khalid Taha imagined an intense, dark and enveloping vanilla, inspired by the memory of a crème brûlée—an expression he could not find at the time within the landscape of Haute Parfumerie. He entrusted this vision to Vincent Ricord, chosen for his distinctive olfactory style and expertise, and guided its development alongside him until the desired expression was achieved. From this dialogue emerged Escapade Gourmande, the founding creation of Maison Mataha.

Its international success paved the way for a greater ambition: to build a contemporary French Maison of Haute Parfumerie, rooted in the fundamentals of niche perfumery and driven by a singular creative vision, independent of trends.

The name Maison Mataha brings together the first name and surname of its founder’s daughter. This family origin places integrity, care and respect at the heart of the Maison. It is the thread that runs through its story and gives meaning to its vision of heritage: the responsibility to build today what deserves to endure and be passed on.
